Do you have sales struggles? During 18 years I’ve worked with startups of every variety, with Fortune 1000 companies and ‘solopreneurs.’ I’ve helped these companies, their founders and their teams to shift their results in three ways:
1 – Shifting their visibility through well-planned marketing, brand positioning and lead nurturing
2 – Increasing sales. This is one of my favorite areas to work with founders and companies because it can be such a HUGE transformation. Tapping into your ‘sales mojo’ – and establishing a practical and shareable sales strategy – can really amp up a business
3 – Mindset. For many founders this links to both #1 and #2. It’s about positioning and ‘owning’ your space, standing in your vision and living it in every way.
I’ve noticed something interesting about founders when it comes to sales. When sales is a challenge, founders fall into two main categories: those that don’t want to sell, and those that can’t pass sales over to other members in their (hopefully growing) team. Each of these limit company growth (and personal growth).
A fear of sales – of rejection, potential ridicule, of total strangers questioning your company, product or service – is not uncommon. Shifting how you think of sales, and practicing selling can really change this. It’s not secret that when I started my first business, my clients all began with A, B or C because I started calling companies from the Yellow Pages (anyone remember them?)
Holding onto sales can be just as damaging to your business because you will simply burn out. As a founder you can be pulled in so many different directions. Setting up a sales process will allow your business to scale – and give you personal space to focus your talents and time in areas that can really transform your business.
